Thyme (organic)

Thymus vulgaris is a bushy, woody, flowering evergreen shrub with small, aromatic, grey-green leaves and clusters of purple–pink flowers. Part of the Lamiaceae (mint) family, it grows 15–30cm tall and is native to the Mediterranean.

We trust our supplier.  They know their plants well and have an expert of knowledge. Anything we want to know, there is always someone on the other side of the phone (Or email) who will talk to us about what’s happening at the farm and every detail (even the quality of the soil).

Organic herb trading.

They  have been trading since 1982 and have a great reputation for the quality and sourcing of their herbs and other medicinal and aromatic plants. They also have a biodynamic farm based in Somerset where they grow some of their own native plants and hold full organic certification.

How To Use It

The leaves can be used to make a herbal tea, with a floral, fresh, earthy flavour. We’re big fans of turning to a thyme infusion when we have a cough or a cold.

How To Dispose Of It

Can be composted if not injested.

Health Benefits

The essential oil of Thyme – thymol – acts as an antiseptic and antifungal, making the herb a useful ingredient in both medical and personal care applications. Thyme is also a good source of vitamins C and A, and contains copper, iron and manganese.

Its a great one for treating coughs, mouth ulcers, throat infections and to aid in digestion.
