Liqurioce root is often used as a natural sweetener and have an array of health benefits. In Spain, the root is sweeter than that grown in most other regions. It can be sucked raw, and so ‘Spanish’ Liquorice has come to mean a root sweet enough to be consumed in its natural form.

The crop is harvested by hand, on 4–6-year cycles. It is a year-round activity, except for the hottest weeks of the summer and mid-winter days. The Liquorice roots are washed, dried and cut at our supplier’s production plants, which have been designed to consume minimal energy and produce almost no waste. Collectors receive a social premium – additional money on top of their wages which can be used for social projects – to promote sustainable livelihoods and community development.

How To Use It

  1. Use filtered water if you can.
  2. Use approximately 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb per cup of water.
  3. Bring your water to a boil and pour over your herbs.
  4. Allow to steep for 10-20 minutes, covered.
  5. Strain off the herbs and serve.

You can also chew on Liquorice root for a sweet snack.
